When your browser requests a page it transmits technical information to our server, which records it in a log file: your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the volume of data transferred, the status code of the request and details of your browser and operating system.

This processing is necessary in order to deliver the page at all and serves the security and stability of our service. The legal basis is Article 6 (1) (f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is the secure and reliable operation of the website.

Log files are deleted after seven days at the latest. We do not combine them with other data and do not create user profiles from them.

The website is not operated on our own servers. It is delivered on our behalf by Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend Street, San Francisco, California, USA. Cloudflare operates a global network of servers and serves the page from a location close to the visitor. In doing so Cloudflare processes the data named in the previous section.

We have a data processing agreement with Cloudflare pursuant to Article 28 GDPR. As the company is based in the United States, data may also be transferred there. This is based on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses pursuant to Article 46 (2) (c) GDPR.

The fonts used are stored in our own web space and loaded from there. No connection to Google or any other provider is established and no data is transferred to third parties.

There is no contact form on this website. If you send us an email we process the information in your message, at least your address and its content, in order to respond to your enquiry.

The legal basis is Article 6 (1) (b) GDPR where your message relates to the initiation or performance of a contract, otherwise Article 6 (1) (f) GDPR, based on our legitimate interest in answering enquiries.

We retain your message for as long as your enquiry requires and beyond that only where commercial or tax retention periods oblige us to do so.

If you send us an application by email, we process the information it contains in order to decide on your application. The legal basis is Section 26(1) of the Federal Data Protection Act in conjunction with Article 88 GDPR, and for special categories of personal data your consent under Article 9(2)(a) GDPR.

If we do not offer you a position, we delete your documents at the latest six months after the process has ended. That period preserves possible claims under the General Equal Treatment Act. If you would like us to keep your documents longer so that we can approach you about future roles, please tell us; you can withdraw that consent at any time.

Please do not include information about health, religion, origin or political views in your application where it is not relevant to the role.

If you subscribe to our market commentary, we process your email address in order to send it to you. The legal basis is your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. You may withdraw it at any time with effect for the future, most easily via the unsubscribe link in any issue or by writing to us.

Subscription uses a confirmation procedure (double opt-in). After you submit the form you receive an email containing a link. You are only added once you click that link. Until then we store your address provisionally only; if the link is not clicked, the address is not added to the list. We record the time of the sign-up, the time of the confirmation and your IP address in order to be able to demonstrate consent. The legal basis for this record is Article 6(1)(c) GDPR in conjunction with Article 7(1) GDPR. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in every email.

We use rapidmail, a service of rapidmail GmbH, Augustinerplatz 2, 79098 Freiburg i. Br., Germany, to send the commentary. rapidmail processes your address solely on our instructions under a data processing agreement pursuant to Article 28 GDPR; processing takes place on servers in Germany. Your address is only passed to rapidmail once you submit the form. Simply visiting this website establishes no connection to rapidmail.

If you unsubscribe, we delete your address from the list. We keep the record of your consent and of your unsubscription for a further three years, counted from the end of the year in which you unsubscribed. That matches the standard limitation period and serves solely to defend against claims of unsolicited advertising.

We do not set cookies, not even strictly necessary ones, and we use neither analytics tools nor tracking pixels, advertising networks or social media buttons. We do not create profiles and do not take automated decisions within the meaning of Article 22 GDPR.

As a rule your data stays with us. Beyond that, access is limited to service providers that support our operations: the provider named under Hosting, our email provider and, if you have subscribed to our market commentary, the sending service named there. They are bound by contract and process data only on our instructions.

You may ask us for information about the data stored about you (Article 15 GDPR), for its rectification (Article 16), its erasure (Article 17) or the restriction of processing (Article 18). You also have the right to data portability (Article 20).

Right to object: Where we process data on the basis of a legitimate interest, you may object to that processing under Article 21 GDPR on grounds relating to your particular situation.

If you have given us consent you may withdraw it at any time with effect for the future. The lawfulness of processing carried out until then remains unaffected.
